A very inexpensive way to check if your toilet is leaking water is to drop a couple drops of food coloring into the tank. Check your toilet bowl in a few minutes, if you start to see colored water in the toilet bowlyou will know that you are leaking water. If you are leaking water, a very simple fix is changing your toilet flapper. If your flapper is old or worn in some way, it could easily leak water.

2. Check all of your faucets

You might be surprised to learn that leaky faucets, even a small drip, can waste thousands of gallons of water per year. Sometimes the base of the faucet leaks water too. If you have a leaky faucet, you really should get that fixed as soon as possible. It can save you money, and also a leaky faucet or drain can cause other issues down the line. 3.Check your showerhead.

How old is your showerhead? If it’s not relatively new, your showerhead might not be a water-conserving fixture.
